HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – The Fort Monroe water tower is no more.
Crews arrived early on Feb. 21 to begin the process of dismantling it, with the goal of completing the work by day’s end. A WAVY camera was rolling as crews were underway.
The tower was constructed in 1990, but the non-historic structure no longer serves a purpose, according to Fort Monroe.
Iseler Demolition and Sims Metal plan to recycle all of the materials.
The water tower removal project will be featured in the March 8 Discover Fort Monroe weekly video. Keep an eye out for that.
