HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A man has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat that led to the evacuation at several courthouses in Hampton Wednesday.

According to Hampton police, the call for the bomb threat came in around 10:35 a.m. Wednesday at the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courthouse, located in the 200 block of N. King St.

Police say the JDR Courthouse, as well as the General District Courthouse and the Circuit Courthouse, were evacuated as a precaution.

Officers swept the courthouses and there were no suspicious devices located. The investigation is ongoing.

On Thursday, police say they arrested 43-year-old Chesapeake resident Billy Ray Saulsberry III in connection with the incident. Saulsberry has been charged with one count of threatening to bomb. He is currently in custody at Hampton City Jail.

The latest comes after Hampton courts were evacuated a day prior on Tuesday morning after police received a call for a separate bomb threat.
