HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A Hampton man pleaded guilty to robbing a bank and holding a customer at knifepoint.

Court documents show that on Oct. 16, 2023, Delonta Wilson, 36, walked into the Old Point National Bank located in downtown Hampton and forced an elderly customer toward the teller counter at knifepoint and before demanding money.

Wilson told bank tellers he would cut the customers throat if the did not do give him the cash. Fearing for their lives, the tellers gave Wilson $6,550.

The 36-year-old is scheduled to be sentenced on June 6 and faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. Typically, sentences for federal crimes are less than the maximum penalties.
