HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Police Division is investigating a maiming after a woman was found shot inside of a vehicle late Tuesday evening.
Police said the call for the shooting came in around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1st block of South Armistead Avenue, near West Queen Street and Settlers Landing Road.
When police arrived on scene, they found a 33-year-old woman who was shot inside of a car.
After an initial investigation, police discovered that the woman was driving southbound on S. Armistead Ave. when she saw a vehicle following her. She turned at the intersection of S. Armistead Ave. and S. Queen St. when the suspect fired shots at her car.
The woman sustained non life-threatening gunshot injuries and has been transported to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled the scene.
According to police, it is believed that the shooting stemmed from a previous altercation.
