HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police are trying to warn the public about a phone scam.
Police said the individuals are calling impersonating Chief Jimmie Wideman, police said.
The scammers then claim that they are with Homeland Security and threaten to take action against them.
If you receive one of these calls, please don’t share personal information such as your location, date of birth, social security number, or any financial information with these callers.
This is a fraudulent scheme, so you’ll need to hang up, report the call as spam, and block the number.
