Popular Hampton restaurant closed after car crashes into building

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A popular restaurant in Hampton is closed until further notice after a car crashed into the building on Thursday.

Hampton Police said officers were dispatched to Tommy’s Restaurant, located at 3406 West Mercury Boulevard, around 2:43 p.m. for reports of a crash at the restaurant.


Officers arrived to Tommy’s and found a single-vehicle had crashed into the side of the building, which was open and occupied at the time of the crash.

According to a Facebook post, Tommy’s Restaurant will be closed until repairs have been made to the building. Tommy’s statement on the incident can be read in full below:

Due to circumstances Tommy’s restaurant will be closed until repairs are completed. We are thankful this happened at the end of the day and no one was injured. There is NO structural damage to the building. We look forward to seeing each an every one of your smiling faces in the near future. We will keep you updated. We appreciate all of your concern.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for reckless driving on parking lots due to the crash.
