PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — While many eyes were on the races for the top-three statewide seats in Virginia — governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general — eyes were also on local races.

On Tuesday, voters in Hampton cast ballots for sheriff and treasurer.

Hampton’s sheriff’s primary race was between Curtis C. Cooper, John A. Perkins and Karen E. Bowden. Bowden led the night with 60.1% of the vote and 100% of precincts reporting.

Chris O. Snead and Tammy B. Ishmael were in the primary race for Hampton treasurer. Snead had 54.2% of the vote with 100% of precincts reporting as of 9:25 p.m.

There were also local races in Norfolk.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. Here are the unofficial results.
