ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The Board of Supervisors of Isle of Wight County has implemented new changes to target practice shooting of guns on property.
The new amendment prohibits shooting rounds that could leave the property in which the guns can legally fire, unless the neighboring property granted permission.
A person cannot shoot within 100 yards of other property including: another’s personal property, business establishment, public building or public gathering. This leaves an exception if the owner or occupants grants permission.
Lastly, the person shooting a firearm must have some form of barrier the prevents bullets from entering another’s property. This includes a natural or manmade berm or backdrop. They also cannot shoot between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.
Anyone violating this could face a Class 1 misdemeanor.
