NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 35-year-old man from Portsmouth has been charged in connection with the abduction of an infant.

On Sunday, Feb. 11 just after 7:30 a.m., police responded to the 800 block of Washington Avenue in Norfolk for the report of a child abduction. Upon arrival, a woman told officers that an acquaintance, Delsean Marquee Mickle, had taken her 7-month-old child.

Virginia State Police (VSP) issued an AMBER alert for the infant, who they believed to be in extreme danger.

Just before 1:30 p.m., detectives found Mickle in Suffolk and took him into custody. The child was not with him.

Soon after, the child was found safe at a family member’s home in the 6300 block of Whaleyville Boulevard and returned to her mother.

Mickle has been charged with child neglect and abduction and is being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
