NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating after a 7-Eleven clerk reported being shot at by a group of males on Tuesday morning.
Police say they responded to the store in the 25h St. and Jefferson Ave. at 2:10 a.m. after gunshots were reported.
At the store, the 32-year-old female clerk told police that a male inside the suspect vehicle, a blue Ford SUV, pointed a gun at her. She said she was shot at, and other males in the vehicle shot firearms into the air before fleeing northbound on Jefferson Avenue. She said four males in total were inside the vehicle.
The woman told police this all happened after the group approached her while she was speaking with a customer at one of the store’s gas pumps. The group said something that the woman couldn’t understand, went inside to purchase items, and then began saying things to the woman again.
She then told the males to leave, which led to the shots fired incident.
No one was reported injured and police say the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
