NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died following a stabbing in Newport News Thursday afternoon, and police confirmed to WAVY the suspect is the man’s son.

Newport News Police identified the person taken into custody as 20-year-old Joshua Whack. He’s facing charges for first-degree murder and use of a knife in the commission of a felony.

Officers were called to the 11100 block of Mintwood Place just before 1 p.m. to investigate a stabbing incident. They arrived on scene and located the victim inside the home. Police said he was suffering from at least stab wound and that he died at the scene.

Investigators called this a domestic-related case.
