NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died after being found shot on 35th Street in Newport News Wednesday evening, police said.
Newport News Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation around 8:51 p.m. near the 800 block of 35th Street, and when officers arrived, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound that appeared to be life-threatening, police said.
The man was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.
The victim in the homicide has been identified as Kalesio Woodson, 22, of Hampton.
