NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Emergency personnel responded to the scene of a crash in Newport News Thursday, involving an overturned tractor-trailer and an HRT bus that ran off the road.

According to police dispatch, the call for the incident came in around 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of 39th Street and Roanoke Avenue.

HRT officials confirmed the bus involved in the crash is Bus 104, which services downtown Newport News and New Market.

Three people, including the bus operator, were taken to a local hospital, according to Newport News Police. Their injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

Details are still limited. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

VDOT officials closed the North Exit 4 on I-664 at mile marker 3.7 following the crash and advised motorists to expect delays.
