NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man died from his injuries following a shooting in Newport News Friday afternoon.
According to police dispatch, the call for the shooting came in around 5:30 p.m. in the 12400 block of Warwick Boulevard. This is near Riverside Regional Medical Center.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found 24-year-old Michael Faison Jr. with life-threatening injuries. Faison Jr. was transferred to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 10 p.m.
Officers were able to locate the suspect, 28-year-old Divine Rahim Jackson, at the 600 block of Aqua Vista Drive. Jackson was taken into custody and charged with second degree homicide and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Additional charges for Jackson may be pending.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October.
