Local business owners react after 4 men injured, 1 critical, following overnight shooting on Granby St. in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Businesses in the Neon District of Norfolk say they’re on edge after an early morning shooting Saturday sent four people to the hospital.

Owners opened their stores Saturday morning to find glass on the floor and bullet holes in their store fronts.

According to police, they initially got the call for shots fired in the 700 block of Granby Street around 2:15 a.m. Saturday. However, when they got to the scene, officers could not locate any victims.

Surveillance video from a local business captures the moment shots rang out on a busy Granby Street.

While investigating, police were advised that four men arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with gunshot wounds.

One victim sustained life-threatening injuries while three others were treated for non life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Many of these small businesses say the costs of replacing glass and fixing storefronts are high and they’re getting sick of having to frequently pay to fix it.

One store owner told 10 On Your Side off-camera police never came during the day to speak with him and other business owners.

He says police did take an incident report over the phone.

Business owners say they’re on edge because of the violence and are frustrated it keeps happening.

No further information has been released. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

10 On Your Side is working to learn about the condition of the victim with life-threatening injuries.
