NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Six people are displaced after a fire at an apartment building Thursday afternoon on Diggs Road in Norfolk.
Crews arrived around 4 p.m. to the 7900 block and found heavy smoke coming from a first floor bedroom of the apartment building. Some fire went up the exterior into the attic, but crews were able to extinguish it.
Minor smoke damage extended to adjacent units. Three apartments were affected in total and no injuries were reported. Six people will be displaced and the Red Cross is assisting.
The fire was under control around 4:45 p.m.
