NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 21-year-old man was convicted in Norfolk Tuesday of molesting a relative under the age of 13 on multiple occasions.

During a bench trial, Trent White Jr. was convicted of two counts of sexual battery of a child under age 13.

In mid-2023, the victim told a family member about White’s conduct and spoke with a forensic interviewer. As a result, White was charged with several sex offenses. Some of those offenses were dismissed in Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

Later, White requested to be tried by a judge in Norfolk Circuit Court after pleading not guilty to two charges of aggravated sexual battery of a child under age 13. On Tuesday, after hearing the evidence, Judge Tasha D. Scott found him guilty and set his sentencing hearing for Nov. 1.

“Children are our most innocent and vulnerable victims,” said Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi. “It is heartbreaking when people take advantage of children, and holding those people accountable is one of our most important duties. I thank the victim of this crime and the victim’s family for helping us do justice.”
