NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 13-year-old has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm after a 15-year-old was shot early Sunday morning in Norfolk. The 15-year-old died on July 21.
Police say the shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of Greenleaf Drive. The 15-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died four days later. Police have not named the victim.
In an update Thursday, police announced that a 13-year-old male has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
He’s being held at the Norfolk Detention Center. No other details in the case have been released.
