NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk Arts is set to open a new solo exhibit at MacArthur Center on Saturday, featuring Hampton based visual artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jackie Merritt.
The exhibit at Norfolk Arts’ Offsite Gallery, titled “Do You See Me Now,” will open with a reception on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 5-7 p.m. Both the exhibit and the gallery are free and open to the public.
Merritt, who graduated from Norfolk State University (NSU) with a BFA in Art Education, served as a Visual Information Specialist for the US Navy for 20 years. She also taught painting and drawing at NSU, VCU and Thomas Nelson Community College.
The exhibit will be open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12-6 p.m. and continue on through Sept. 13.
