NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk man was sentenced on Thursday after he illegally sold machine gun conversion devices to undercover agents, a release states.

On Dec. 15, 2022, 33-year-old Austin Perrine met with an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The meeting took place at a bar in Virginia Beach, where Perrine discussed dealing machinegun conversion devices which render semi-automatic firearms capable of automatic firing with the single pull of the trigger, as well as building machineguns, pistols and silencers and having access to cocaine.

Perrine pulled two conversion devices from his clothing and sold both to the agent for $1,000.

On Jan. 4, 2023, Perrine’s residence was searched in Norfolk. Agents recovered two handguns and various ammunition, magazines and firearms parts. As a felon, Perrine cannot legally possess a firearm or ammunition.

He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for illegally trafficking machineguns and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
