NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been charged after police say a woman who was found unresponsive in Norfolk on Wednesday died at the hospital.
Norfolk police said officers were called to Cape Henry Avenue around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday for a reported assault in progress.
Responding officers found 36-year-old Melissa Yuhas unresponsive outside of a home. Yuhas was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she died Thursday morning.
Police said detectives later arrested 34-year-old Robert Anthony Colon, and charged him with second-degree murder. He is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond.
“He was such a nice boy,” said Linda Lumanog, who lives next door to where the crime occurred. “For 3 or 4 years I hadn’t seen him. One day I saw him and he ran up to me and hugged me [and said] ‘I’m home.'”
