NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Norfolk Police Department is investigating a crash that left a 44-year-old man dead.
Police said on Tuesday, Feb. 6 just before 4 a.m., they received a call about a crash involving a pedestrian in the 3400 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard between Scott Street and Ballentine Boulevard.
The pedestrian, later identified as 44-year-old Anthony L. Lambert of Norfolk, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
All lanes were closed as police investigated the area. All lanes have since reopened.
WAVY’s Brett Hall was at the scene where police told him that the incident occurred on the bridge over the railroad tracks in Norfolk’s Ingleside area and involved a box truck.
Norfolk police say that the shopping cart seen in the photo above was involved in the crash.
Police said neither speed or alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
Norfolk Police Department’s Auto Squad Unit is investigating the crash.
