NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police need the public’s help tracking down two brazen suspects wanted for robbing two convenience stores at gunpoint.

The robberies happened within minutes of each other.

10 On Your Side spoke with a store employee. She wasn’t working when the robberies happened, but she said she was shocked when she found out what her coworkers went through.

Armed with a shotgun and a rifle, Norfolk police said two young men robbed two 7-Eleven stores early Thursday morning.

The first robbery happened around 2:20 at the store off N. Military Highway and Springmeadow Blvd.

The suspects demanded cash from the clerk, got the money and ran.

Police said the same suspects robbed a 7-Eleven on E. Little Creek Road and Gifford St. just 25 minutes later. The stores are just over a mile away from each other. It’s not clear how much money the suspects got away with.

The clerk we spoke to didn’t want to show her face but said she was stunned when she saw the surveillance photos.

“I already told my coworker that if it happened to me, at that very moment I would quit,” she said.

The employee said besides occasional shoplifting, the store typically feels safe and that most of the people who come in are regulars.

“This store is a neighborhood store. Mostly our customers coming in, we know already what they want,” the employee said. “They’re kind of all afraid for us, you know.”

However she told us this isn’t the first time the store has been targeted.

“I’ve been here five years and this store has been robbed for like three times already,” she said. “We’re just being cautious you know, watching everybody and just be cautious.”

No one was hurt, but police are hoping someone will recognize the pair. The suspects were wearing black and multi-colored hoodies with dark colored pants. One suspect had a white stripe running down the side of his pants. Police described the suspects as young men.
