Norfolk to break ground on new fire station Mar. 21

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The City of Norfolk will break ground on a new fire station on Mar. 21.

According to a Facebook post from the City of Norfolk, the new Station 11 on Lafayette Blvd. is set to replace the second-oldest fire station in the city. Fire Station 11 on Verdun Avenue has been in service for 100 years!


The groundbreaking of the new fire station will take place at 11 a.m. at 2601 Lafayette Blvd.

According to the city, council members Mamie B. Johnson and Danica J. Royster will join Norfolk Fire-Rescue for the groundbreaking ceremony.

The construction is expected to take a year, with a target completion date of April 2024.
