NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The first Norfolk ‘Unity in the Community Back 2 School Celebration’ event was such a success, the city is bringing it back.

This year’s event is scheduled for August 10, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Norfolk Scope Downtown. It is open to all Norfolk students, from pre-school through high school.

The event, which is a collaborative effort between the City of Norfolk, Norfolk Public Schools, and several community organizations, aims to help students prepare for the new school year.

There will be free school supplies for NPS students, health screenings, community resources, food, and entertainment.

Bus transportation will be available to and from the Scope for this back to school celebration. All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the bus.

Norfolk Public Schools start early this upcoming school year — on August 19.
