NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Ocean View Golf Course in Norfolk was vandalized early Sunday morning.
The establishment said just after 2 a.m. several people came in wearing masks, and started tearing up the place. Inside, glass was on the floor. The suspects also vandalized the TV.
Fortunately, nothing was stolen.
Norfolk Police told 10 On Your Side they responded to the Ocean View Golf Course just after 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 8.
Golfers at the club said this course is a place to relax with a good community, saying they were surprised this happened.
“I came in this morning and the starter said did you see what happened and I’m like no, and he showed me,” said golfer Gus Boubouheropoulos. “Then, I thought it was just in the clubhouse and then I realized that they also broke the front door to the little dinner shop here, so yeah it was pretty surprising.”
“No, we never had any problems with the vehicles or any of that, you see people walking the dog. We just made the comment a few minutes ago that everybody walks their dogs, everybody keeps their yards up. Very nice old community,” said golfer Mike Kane.
The establishment filed a police report and police obtained security footage of the break-in.
The door is boarded up, but the club is operating as usual. As we learn more about this investigation, we’ll have updates on WAVY.com.
