NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Old Dominion University (ODU) Police Department says it has seen a recent spike in vehicle break-ins at campus parking lots.
The break-ins and thefts happened at night on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 in University Parking Lots 42, 43, 16, V2, and V3. Police received reports from multiple vehicle owners.
ODU sent an alert to the campus community about the incidents Friday.
Police say they have two potential male suspects in this case and are urging anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward.

Prevention Tips:
- Park in well‐lit areas.
- Contact ODUPD immediately at 757-683-4000 (911 from campus phones) or via the LiveSafe app, to report any crime or suspicious activity.
- Ensure all doors are locked and fully close all windows (including sunroof).
- In general, theft is a crime of opportunity. Remember to safeguard all property; don’t leave personal identification documents in your vehicle and never leave purses, wallets, electronics, or other valuables in plain sight, even for a short time.
- Don’t leave electronic accessories like phone cords, mounts, or bags visible in your vehicle as the perpetrator may break into the car to look for the electronic devices.
- Keep a record of serial numbers and make/model of all electronic devices to assist in recovery if stolen.
