NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The owner of a now-closed Norfolk bridal shop owes a local bank nearly $1 million, court documents show.
According to court documents, House of Maya owner Maya Holihan owes Old Point National Bank of Phoebus more than $717,000 in business loan payments, interest and late charges.
Maya and Robert Holihan took out a $750,000 business loan with Old Point on Feb. 25, 2015 under the operating company Maya Couture, LLC. On April 5, the couple’s lawyer acted as power of attorney and signed court paperwork acknowledging that the Holihan’s had defaulted on their loan and owed the bank money, according to court documents.
Old Point National Bank spokeswoman Erin Black declined to comment on the case, which is listed as “active” on the Virginia Courts Case Information website.
The move comes about eight months after Holihan suddenly closed the doors to her bridal shop, House of Maya, in Downtown Norfolk, leaving several brides in the lurch.
In September, 10 On Your Side reported that when she closed her shop, Holihan also owed More than $230,000 to landlords, employees and American Express.
