NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two people have been arrested after a Wawa convenience store employee was shot and killed while sitting in a car on Sunday night.
Andre Brinkley, 20, and Shonquial E. Hamlin, 21, have been charged with second degree murder, robbery, carjacking, use of a firearm and conspiracy to commit a felony. Both are being held at the Norfolk City Jail.
Norfolk dispatchers say they received a call about the incident around 11 p.m. Police say the shooting happened during a robbery. The employee, identified as 38-year-old Helena B. Stiglets, of the 2900 block of Pleasant Avenue, was sitting in her car when she was shot. She was transported to Sentara Norfolk General where she later died from her injuries.
Dispatchers say another robbery happened about an hour later at a 7-Eleven store on Tidewater Drive, but the two incidents are not connected.
