USS Eisenhower to return home after twice-extended deployment

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group is heading home after their extended deployment.

The ship’s tour was extended twice during the conflict with Israel and Hamas, but now the ship is set to return.

A social media post from the U.S. Central Command reads, in part:

“Flying over 30,000 hours and sailing over 55,000 miles the IKE CSG demonstrated our commitment to regional stability and protected freedom of navigation throughout the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The IKE CSG also upheld their commitment to safety of all seafarers, rescuing mariners in distress on several occasions following unprovoked attacks on innocent mariners by Iranian-backed Houthis.”
