WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died following a collision between a moped and an SUV in Williamsburg.

On Saturday evening, Williamsburg’s fire and police departments responded to the incident in the 1600 block of Richmond Road at around 8:30 p.m.

An investigation revealed that 45-year-old Misty May Sites, of Williamsburg, was driving her Ford Explorer westbound on Richmond Road when she attempted to turn into the McDonalds parking lot and hit a man on a moped.

The operator of the moped, 29-year-old Jose Luis Encarnacion Mora, of Richmond, went into cardiac arrest and was transported to the Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Sites has been charged with reckless driving. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol or speed were contributing factors in the crash.
