CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — One person has been arrested following a hit-and-run crash on South Military Highway near the Virginia Beach line Friday evening, Chesapeake Police said.
Around 7 p.m., Chesapeake Police got a call for a possible drunk driver that had just been involved in a hit-and-run crash on South Military Highway near the Virginia Beach city line.
An officer found the vehicle police said was being driven by a suspect and attempted to stop the vehicle, however, it turned into a vehicle pursuit.
After the driver stopped on Buttonwood Street, that person was arrested, and police said the driver was taken to the hospital due to being intoxicated and being involved in a crash.
Police said charges are pending and the incident is actively under investigation.
