The victim, a 17-year-old boy, sustained life-threatening injuries, but later died.

Police say they ended up locating a crime scene in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at Cherokee Road and Elmhurst Lane.

They said they also arrested a 17-year-old male suspect and charged him with aggravated murder, robbery and shooting in the commission of a felony.

No further information has been released.

Two of his cousins were at the scene where he was shot Sunday morning so they could be with him one more time. His cousin, Traniya Miller, said he was working to save up for a car on his 18th birthday in June.

“I know my cousin was trying to get his license for his 18th birthday to get him a new car,” she said. “He was really trying to do something for himself.”

One of his other cousins, who wished to remain anonymous, said she’s still in shock he’s gone.

“This really hit home. Like, we really grew up together,” she said. “We used to always be together when we was kids.”

His cousins say he was shot seven times and walked into Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Even though police have a suspect in custody, they say it still can’t bring back their cousin.

“My aunt don’t got her son. My aunt ain’t play about her kids. She was strict with her kids,” said Miller.
