PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Churchland Middle School in Portsmouth dismissed students early Monday due to a bomb threat.

According to a message sent to Churchland families, a bomb threat was called into the schools main office. The school was evacuated immediately out of an abundance of caution and to allow police to do a search of the building.

Due to the amount of time it was expected to take to complete a search, the school decided to dismiss students early. Buses began leaving the school at 10:30 a.m.

The school system and fire department confirmed to WAVY that Churchland Middle received another bomb threat Tuesday afternoon.

Cradock Middle School in Portsmouth also dismissed early Monday due to a bomb threat called in to the school. A message to families said buses left campus at 12:30 p.m.

No further information has been released at this time.

Meanwhile, Waters Middle School in Portsmouth also received a bomb threat this week. The school was evacuated Wednesday morning and the school district confirmed students were dismissed early, at 10:30 a.m.
