PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Crews responded to a fire in Portsmouth Wednesday afternoon.
The incident was reported just after 2 p.m. in the 5000 block of North Greenefield Drive. Fire officials said that no one was home at the time.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming through the roof of the home. They began to search the home and extingush the fire.
Officials also said that no injuries have been reported with civilians or firefighters.
The home is occupied by a female who is now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross due to the damage caused by the fire.
The cause of the fire is investigation.
Separately, as crews were working the fire on North Greenefield Drive, another fire was reported on Pollux Circle.
That other fire was extinguished and contained to a detached garage. There were no injuries.
