PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A man has been arrested and charged in connection with two stabbing incidents that happened in a Portsmouth home.
Police first responded to the home on Calvin Street for the report of a stabbing around 9:24 p.m. on Oct. 16. A man was stabbed between 10 and 15 times. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Court records state that the man “nearly died” due to his injuries and that he will be permanently physically impaired as a result of the stabbing.
Police responded to the home again on Oct. 17 after a woman was stabbed in her abdomen, court records state.
Both the man and woman identified the same person as their attacker: Herbert Lee Jones III.
Portsmouth police confirm Jones was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and three counts of stabbing in the commission of a felony. He’s scheduled to appear in Portsmouth General District Court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 15.
