PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two men have been arrested following a police pursuit in Norfolk that ended in a two-vehicle crash that injured a motorist in Portsmouth Saturday evening.

According to Portsmouth officials, the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Chestnut Street and Jefferson Street in Portsmouth.

The incident began in the 900 block of Tunstall Avenue in Norfolk. Officers patrolling the area reported seeing several people shooting at each other. As the officers approached the scene, the suspects got into a vehicle and started to drive away.

The officers attempted to pull over one of the suspect vehicles but the driver refused.

As the pursuit continued into Portsmouth, police say the vehicle ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle.

One person, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After a short foot pursuit two men were taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered. 

Norfolk residents 18-year-old Isaiah A. Glover and 24-year-old Shy’Quan A. Dodson are facing multiple charges including conspiracy, use of a firearm, felony hit and run, use of a machine gun, and carrying a loaded firearm. Police say additional charges are pending as the investigation continues. 

Both are currently being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
