PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man is dead after a Friday afternoon shooting in Portsmouth, police said.
Around 2:15 p.m., Portsmouth Police received a call for a report of gunshot wounds at the 3800 block of Augustine Circle.
Police arrived on the scene to find 25-year-old Arthur Lee Harris Jr. in the middle of the street suffering from a gunshot wound.
Harris was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
In response to the violence, the Portsmouth Police Dept. has scheduled a R.E.S.E.T. Walk for Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m.
They will meet at the intersection of Augustine Circle and Peachtree Lane E.
According to police, the community walk is “focused on helping our citizens heal after a tragic event.”
