PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Portsmouth police are investigating after two men were found shot on Towne Pointe Road Sunday morning.
Police said they responded to the call of a shooting in the 3500 block of Towne Point Road around 9:15 a.m.
Upon arrival to the shopping center, officers found two men suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. They were transported to a local hospital where, as of Monday, they were listed in stable condition.
A nearby resident said that, while he loves the area, shootings are becoming more frequent.
“Oh that’s a good area,” Rashad Whitehead said. “I just, you know, sometimes, you know, bad things happen here, but it’s a great area. This is where you want to come and stay in. Other than that though, it happens all the time, it’s just, it’s frequent now. So this is one of those things.”
Activists and city leaders have said they are working to end gun violence, but Whitehead said sometimes it’s deeper than that.
“I mean, just put the gun down and try to talk it out if you can find some other resources,” Whitehead said. “That’s all I got really to say.”
Detectives need the public’s help to identify two people captured on surveillance footage, believed to be suspects in this case.
Police released these images.
