PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died and another is injured following a shooting in Portsmouth early Wednesday morning.
Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police were notified of a gunshot victim arriving at Maryview Hospital. At the hospital, officers confirmed that two men sustained gunshot injuries.
Police say 37-year-old Johnny Burden died from his injuries. Jermone Hunter, 34, was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Police taped off the emergency entrance for hours this morning.
The WAVY crew spotted a car parked at the hospital’s emergency room entrance that had shattered windows and several bullet holes on the driver’s side and back windows.
The car was then towed away.
There were also several police vehicles at the hospital Wednesday morning.
