PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A woman is dead after a shooting at the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Wall Street on Tuesday evening, Portsmouth Police said.

Police responded to the shooting around 6:43 p.m., and when they arrived, officers found a woman suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound and immediately began life-saving measures.

The victim, 30-year-old Yolanda Jenise Jackson, later died from her injuries at a local hospital.

WAVY spoke with members of her family on Wednesday, who provided a photo of her.

This is an ongoing investigation and police are searching for suspects.
