NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton Roads’ first “Born Learning Trail” will in the Fort Norfolk area of the Elizabeth River Trail in Norfolk.
The new trail, which will go up on Saturday, May 10 between trail’s obstacle course and Plume Point Park, is through a partnership between the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation and United Way of South Hampton Roads.
It will feature a series of 10 signs with activities for kids and their families, with interactive learning games for early childhood education.
“We are truly excited to be the host site for the first Born Learning Trail in Norfolk,” said Kindra Greene, executive director of the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation. “We hope this will open a door to outdoor learning opportunities and literally be a first step to more Born Learning Trails throughout our region.”
The trail will just the second of its kind in Virginia, but more than 750 have been installed in parks, schools and communities throughout the country.
