UPDATE: Virginia State Police said Tuesday evening that George Randolph Hankins has been found.
SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A Senior Alert has been issued for an 81-year-old Surry County man who was last seen Monday afternoon at his home on Deer Ridge Road in the Spring Grove area of Surry County, Virginia State Police said.
George Randolph Hankins, 81, is 5-foot-8 and 230 pounds with blue eyes and a bald head, having recently trimmed his grey beard and shaved his head bald. State Police said he was last seen around 12:30 p.m. and was possibly wearing a Carhartt camouflage jacked and soiled blue sweatpants. He is presumed to be walking and not in a motor vehicle.
State Police said Hankins suffers from a cognitive impairment, with his disappearance posing “a credible threat to his health and safety as determined by the investigating agency.” The Surry County Sheriff’s Office said Hankins has a history of dementia.
