SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An 18-year-old Kings Fork High School student has been charged with threatening a teacher and staff at the school on Thursday.
Police say the alleged threatening language from Jalen Parker on Thursday sparked unfounded social media posts of an active shooter threat at King’s Fork.
The city’s police department said in a Facebook post that the false information was circulating online Friday morning regarding the active shooter threat, and officers were at the school all morning for “enhanced security.”
Parker has been charged with threaten bodily harm and disorderly conduct. He was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail, and police say the investigation into the threats is ongoing.
