Four kayakers brought to shore after swimmer in distress call in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Four kayakers were retrieved by Suffolk Fire & Rescue after they responded to a swimmer in distress call on Wednesday, according to the city.

Around 4:45 p.m., Suffolk Emergency Communication Center received a call for a swimmer in distress on the Nansemond River near the White Marsh area. Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded by boat and retrieved four kayakers.

They were treated on land and no injuries were reported.
