SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man charged with second-degree murder has turned himself in after someone was shot and killed Friday evening inside a residence in the 300 block of Beech Street in Suffolk, Suffolk Police said.

Suffolk Police said Alvin Lorenzo Bryant Jr., 42, of Suffolk, turned himself in at Police Precinct 2 at about 8:56 p.m. Monday and is being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

In addition to the charge of second-degree murder, Bryant faces charges of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and they have no further information at this time.

Suffolk Police said the call came into the Suffolk 911 Center around 7:32 p.m. Friday, and when officers arrived, a man was found with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as David Joshua Gomes, 37, of Suffolk.

Police classified the death as a homicide and are continuing to investigate the shooting.
