SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Several areas in the City of Suffolk are scheduled to undergo a smoke test on the sanitary sewer systems starting on Aug. 12.
According to a release, contractors will be working on behalf of the Suffolk Department of Public Utilities to conduct the smoke testing in order to identify any possible deficiencies that could contribute to sanitary sewer overflows.
The areas that will be impacted can be found below:
- Barrett Acres
- Chatham Woods
- Turlington Road near Meadows Landing
The opaque-colored smoke that will be used during the testing is non-toxic and does not pose any hazards to people, pets or the surrounding area, according to the release.
The smoke testing is dependent on weather is is subject to change.
