SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a residential structure fire Tuesday afternoon.
The fire took place on the 2000 block of Maple Leaf Crescent not far from Nansemond Parkway. Crews arrived on scene at 3:07 p.m., finding smoke and fire showing from the first floor of the two-story building.
The fire was placed under control at 3:27 p.m. with hand lines being used to contain it.
Two adults and one child were present at the time of the fire, but they’re not requesting any assistance from the American Red Cross.
Searches were conducted in the structure; however, the cause and origin of the fire remains unknown. Fire Marshal 5 Office is currently leading the investigation.
