SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk police are investigating a shooting that sent a woman to the hospital.
Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, police dispatch received a call regarding a shooting on the 2200 block of East Washington Street in the Hollywood district near the Hoffler Apartments, where police found several spent shell casings.
Before the officers arrived, the woman drove herself to a nearby hospital and was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
A neighbor told 10 On Your Side’s Raven Payne that she remembered another shooting that happened near those apartments last year, in which a man died. That shooting took place in May 2022.
Just a month before that shooting, a boy in that apartment complex was shot in the arm.
The neighbor declined to be on camera, but said the amount of violence in that area has her considering moving. She said Wednesday’s shooting woke her out of her sleep.
She caught the sound of the gunshots from the shooting on her doorbell camera. On it, more than a dozen shots could be heard.
No information regarding suspects has been released.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. If anyone knows anything about the shooting, they can call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or they can use the P3Tips app.
