SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Suffolk Public Library is set to kickoff the summer on Saturday with classes, events and different learning opportunities for all ages.

Summer Reading Challenge

From June 15 through Aug. 10, earn a digital raffle ticket for various prizes, such as a Nintendo Switch for every book read. The Suffolk Public Library’s community goal for 2024 is 20,000 books throughout the summer.

Lunch & More @ Summer Mess Hall

From June 17 through Aug. 16 every Monday through Friday, 12:30-1:30 p.m., lunch will be provided on a first come first serve basis for visitors under the age of 18.

Juneteenth Jamboree

On June 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Morgan Memorial Library, celebrate Juneteenth with food, Juneteenth-inspired crafts, workshops and performances featuring local talent.

Summer Kickoff: Cardboard Camp

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 22 at the North Suffolk Library, families will be able to help build a carboard community camp to celebrate the start of summer. All supplies will be provided.

Children under the age of five will have to have caregiver assistance, and no registration is required.

Parking Lot Pride

From 5-8 p.m. on June 28, people of all ages are invited to celebrate Pride Month at the North Suffolk Library. There will be activities for kids, local resources and food trucks at the event.

Miss Humblebee’s Academy

The Suffolk Public Library is offering this free learning tool for children ages three through six to help support learning needs at home.

Through the Suffolk Early Childhood Development Commission, Miss Humblebee’s Academy utilizes interactive guided lessons and activities tailored to meet every child’s individual needs.
